The JS Jaijee Degree College, Gurney Kalan (subdivision Moonak, district Sangrur), was established in 2004 and has expanded steadily over the past nine years. There was no other degree college within 30 km radius of Gurney Kalan and the need for an institution of higher learning has long been felt in this area. The college is affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala, and offers arts and vocational subjects and a professional course in computer applications. In addition, a range of sports and clubs allow the students to develop into well rounded individuals. The college functions from a newly constructed complex of classrooms, library and auditorium, located on a 10 acre campus just outside Gurney Kalan.
Within the next year staff quarters and hostel will be added.
Results of both BA-I and BA-II have been excellent, eliciting the Punjabi University Vice Chancellor’s appreciation. Several generous donors have contributed to the scholarship corpus fund allowing the college to offer assistance to disabled and needy students.

Training fees are highly subsidized (Rs 50 per month) to enable even families of very moderate means to send their daughters. It has has placed many of its graduates in firms and industries operating in Punjab. At present there are two computer training centres. As resources become available, the Trust intends to open more.
